I support the intention here but SKDC need to factor in the impact on a neighbouring county’s biodiversity when putting forward development proposals. By acknowledging the high biodiversity value and importance of Quarry Farm the proposals for Stamford North should not have been carried forward to the stage it is at now.

SKPR-241 land off Church lane Great Gonerby. This lane is a restricted by-way, is already documented in your SKDC Green Infrastructure Strategy as "The Great Gonerby Walk" and the site area is in an area marked as "Historic Landscape" and "Historic Settlement Core". These green fields are naturally beautiful and are the natural habitat and feeding area for, bats, owls, foxes, badgers, rode deer, muntjacs, grass hoppers, birds, grass snakes, newts, moths, butterflies, beetles and other insects. The hedges are well over 200 years old and some of the trees are protected. And you want to replace this with concrete?

Whilst it is acknowledged that there are defined areas of habitat requiring specific conservation it is believed the extensive development planned around Grantham and especially along the River Witham corridor will have a significant impact on the wildlife and wildlife habitat in the Blue Green corridor.

There is a concern that insufficient independent analysis of the area in Grantham South and surrounding sites has taken place as to identify areas of sensitivity.
Where further EA assessments have been recommended ie for the wood along the River Witham, these did not take place before development of the Relief Road commenced.

Moving further away the character of Grantham is determined by its setting in a green bowl which defines the valley of the River Witham.
The scale of development which has already extended above the valley bottom in some areas, especially along Barrowbygate and Poplar Farm are having a detrimental impact on the character of the town and the wildlife habitat.

A further concern has been raised regarding the use of agricultural land, rather than brownfield sites to build homes on further reducing, along with solar farm expansion, food security in the area and country. This is not considered to be sustainable.
