Important though this is, ironically the ethos has been totally steamrollered in regard to SKPR-241 Land Off Church Lane. Historical heritage features of the 5 paddocks (green spaces) involved having been registered in the Enclosures Act 1809 and documented in village maps for many years before, as is Church Lane, previously Barrowby Lane. The Pinfold straddles what would be the only vehicular access to the Site without damaging ancient hedgrows. The proposed high density development is on rising ground, which will dominate the perspective from the Conservation Area of the Village. How does this demonstrate respect for the Historic Environment?

The approach to Belton House is being mired by development. This site allocation SKPR-57 will remove the visitors enjoyment of the area and their opinion that Belton House is set in a rural location.
Also, the site is within view of Belton House itself.
Sadly, this format of objection does not allow the presentation of images which would show the view zones and approach zones which are impacted (see the document presented to SKDC by the Gonerby Hill Foot Community group).

Response to 10.43 and 10.44 The Historic Environment. reference SKPR-57
The main approach to Belton House NT estate is via the Belton Lane road which already has a 440 home development being built along it. To add this further development (which runs alongside the road) will damage the rural feel to the approach to the historic Belton House estate. Instead of a rural environment the visitor will feel the grounds are encroached by modern housing. A damaging feel for this historic site.

SKPR-57 is visible from both Belton House NT and the Belmount Tower. It lies above the 60m protection contour and should, therefore, be rejected.

The approved development of 440 new homes, to the East of our proposed site, is set way back from Belton Lane. No consideration or mitigation has been given by the planning team regarding SKPR-57’s vicinity to Belton Lane.

The new developments sprawled on the edges of the town are impacting on the historic character of the Districts market towns with potential negative impacts on future opportunities to grow tourism and leisure.
