Regulation 18 Draft Local Plan

Representation ID: 2479

Received: 25/04/2024

Respondent: Cllr Charmaine Morgan

Representation Summary:

The policies around developing Grantham Town centre are weak with little strategy other than have significant growth and hope the new residents will come into the town centre. A more imaginative approach is needed including protecting the historic buildings of the town, and those which add to the character, whether listed, or not and creation of a new Visitor Centre as a town centre attraction in which the history of the town is displayed along with artefacts and footage of reenactment.

There are a number of ideas that should be examined to improve the town centre including SKDC purchasing the George Centre and utilising it as a community hub, investing in the Market, providing more WCs, improving local transport, increasing available parking to accommodate new growth and reducing charges to enable the town to compete with out of town retail outlets.
