The number one subject mentioned in every survey/consultation is traffic. Traffic is the biggest single issue that prevents the town centre realising its potential, and I can see no ideas – or mentioned anywhere, a plan to address this. Apart from the town centre retail and as a community centre, to attract more business and jobs we need a better connectivity to the wider world. I was once told that the A15 is our M1. The M1 is a dual carriageway with 3 lanes either side. More important than the volume of traffic, it is the size of today’s commercial vehicles and that is the real problem. The heavy loads are the reason for water leaks, and the resultant constant road repairs. This problem will only increase with more housing. Further to point 1, there is no allowance for even a consideration of a bypass in the proposed housing and employment allocations map.

It is requested that the finding of the Site Assessment for Site Ref. SKPR-7 relating to site access and connections by sustainable modes of transport are changed from ‘red’ to ‘amber’, because suitable highway accesses can be provided for the promoted development from West Road and from the existing roundabout on Raymond Mays Way.
It is requested that an additional allocation is included in draft SKLP for land at South West Bourne (Site Ref. SKPR-7).
