The surface water & foul water drainage in the village is very poor, the school has 6 classrooms for 7 year groups. Increasing the size of the village will be likely to displace children from the village.

We object to the proposal to make Claypole a larger village. There is no viable benefit in increasing the size of the village. In the past it had been deemed unsustainable and nothing has changed in fact the infrastructure has worsened. The school has 6 classrooms for 7 year groups, why not increase the school instead of building more houses. Increasing the size of the village will be likely to displace children from the village. Flooding in the surroundings fields worsens each year, they are not suitable to build on. With flooding being Lincolnshire emergency planners biggest risk.

We vehemently oppose the reclassification of Village Claypole as a large village. It defies logic to compromise the historical identity of this settlement when there are ample opportunities for expansion in Newark and Balderton, both of which boast superior infrastructure. Addressing safety concerns on Shire Lane, currently a hazardous thoroughfare due to neglect, should take precedence over adding strain to existing infrastructure. Claypole's single narrow thoroughfare is inundated with parked vehicles, exacerbating congestion during peak hours. Prioritizing infrastructure improvements in line with safety and community needs is imperative to alleviate congestion and preserve the village's character.

Claypole does not have the infrastructure to support classification as a large village and further larger developments. The road network cannot currently accommodate traffic particularly on Main Street and other streets without off street parking. Many fields have become flooded and further development will exacerbate this situation. Access to public transport is poor. Claypole neighbours the expanding development of the Fernwood area. Whilst in a different local authority area this significant development provides housing needs and would question the occupancy rate/ purchase of these homes.

The surrounding fields are not suitable to be built upon with flooding worsening each year and fields already being flooded and waterlogged causing road damage. Not enough amenities for further influx of people especially with the ridiculous housing estate over at fernwood approaching the lane to the village. Classifying Claypole as a larger village will destroy the very meaning of village and the reason people settle here to get away from the nearby towns/cities and further housing to accommodate a larger village will also destroy local wildlife not to mention the increase in traffic on the already limited roads

We object to the proposal to make Claypole a larger village. It has previously been deemed unsustainable and nothing to date has changed; in fact the infrastructure has worsened: all traffic flows through single carriageway Main Street, which is already busy and has regular hold-ups to due size and volume of traffic. Surface water & foul water drainage in the village is very poor for present occupancy, regularly requiring visits from the water authority and the school has 6 classrooms for 7 year groups, so increasing the size of village will likely lead to displacement of children from the village.

We have been resident in Claypole 23 years and over that time the drainage situation has got serious, we are scared of being flooded in our house through the backed up foul water system every winter.
The traffic and danger has increased . Our infrastructure has worsened.
Increasing the size of the village will make the situation untenable.
We already democratically voted as a village in parish plannng , not to increase size beyond a small village, why is this not being implemented?
Finally flooding in the surroundings fields worsens each year, why would one build and magnify the problem.

A huge amount of time/effort went into the development and acceptance of the Claypole Neighbourhood Plan, including continuous but manageable growth designed so as to not overwhelm the village and facilities so it would be hugely disappointing if this plan was not supported/accepted by SKDC and the village reclassified as a "large" village with all the changes that would be part and parcel of that reclassification.

Traffic and speed within the village has increased despite the 30mph warning sign – increasing the size of the village will not help.

Flooding in the fields and drainage capacity are still major concerns.

Claypole village invested large amounts of time, effort and funds preparing the development and acceptance of the Claypole Neighbourhood Plan. Why is SKDC ignoring this plan that most villagers agreed with? Current village roads, drainage and sewage is wholly inadequate for current needs never mind increased housing capacity to meet government edicts. SKDC Councillors are paid to represent the people who elect them, you are not there to ride roughshod over the electorate. Your plan completely ignores our wishes and is unworkable and unacceptable.

Claypole should not be designated a larger village. It is a small rural conurbation and excessive building would be detrimental to the character of the village. The designation of Claypole as a 'larger village' does not fit in with the detailed neighbourhood plan that has recently been put together and voted on by the majority of Claypole residents. There is no requirement for large-scale house building in Claypole. No more than half a mile from the boundary of Claypole village there is a development of over 3000 new houses being built as part of the Fernwood development.

The infra structure cannot support existing housing,the pumping station fails during heavy rain and houses on the main rd and side roads are flooded.Sewage comes up the main drains.The local school runs 7 school years in six classrooms.Locals voted in 2023 to keep the village small and this was adopted by SKDC Nothing has changed to support an increase in village size.Hundreds of houses are continuing to be built as part of Fernwood which will cover local demand.Roads in and out of Claypoke cannot support heavy traffic, are narrow and poorly maintained

There is no need to reclassify Claypole as a "large village". Claypole has limited access to vehicular traffic and very limited public transport. Further housing in the village will increase traffic along Main Street which is effectively single carriageway due to parked vehicles. Building large housing developments in the village will cause environmental damage, risk the safety of pedestrians and decrease air quality. The Claypole Neighbourhood Plan has been devised to address housing needs in the village and it does not require a reclassification of the village.
