I support these proposals but there is a gap between the policy and the reality. Why does SKDC not demand more from developers? Solar panels on new builds? Heat source pumps? Only EV charging points are legally enforceable. Carbon emissions are sky rocketing & nature provides a great buffer against this -green space should not be used for housing!

As a planning authority why isn't SKDC doing more to encourage renewable energy?
The UK is an island with lots of wind so ideal for wind turbines.
Why doesn't SKDC make it mandatory for any new large flat retail units, warehouses and distribution centres to have solar panels on their roofs? This seems a no brainer and would remove the need for farmland to be covered by solar farms.

Developers should take into account renewable energy. On large developments they could use ground source heat pumps and more properties should be built with solar panels

The positive principles of this policy area and greater emphasis on climate change are recognised and welcomed by the National Trust.

It is apparent that relevant policies will be informed by an emerging Climate Change Study commissioned by South Kesteven District Council. This is intended to be supported by further consultation at the Regulation 19 stage of the Local Plan.

Given the importance of climate change as a policy area an additional, and supplementary, consultation on this matter would be considered beneficial. This would allow for full stakeholder review before the narrower parameters of a Regulation 19 consultation.

Particularly where the detail of policies may be subject to significant change in the meantime.
