Proposed Housing and Mixed-Use Site Allocations
SKPR-71 – Land North of Dickens Close, Stowe Road
Representation ID: 3871
Received: 28/08/2025
Respondent: Langtoft Parish Council
In terms of Langtoft’s allocation, we do not believe that the proposed allocation of 55 properties to the north of Dickens Close (SKPR-71) is in the correct location; it is too far from services such as the shop, pub, church and bus stops and will result in additional vehicle movements through the already overloaded West End / A15 junction. We therefore oppose this allocation.
We are particularly concerned with the cumulative impact upon the A15 with a further 1511 properties along the A15 corridor (1037 Bourne, 283 Baston, 136 Thurlby, 55 Langtoft). Access onto the A15 at the morning and evening peak is already very challenging (and dangerous) in all the villages and will only worsen with the developments. We therefore urge that developer contributions are required for A15 junction improvements in those villages and completion of the cycle path between Langtoft and Thurlby to enable safe cycle travel and commuting between Bourne, Market Deeping
and through to Peterborough.
The additional 1137 allocation for The Deepings. Provision for additional healthcare services will be essential. The Deepings has been without the leisure centre and swimming pool for several years; developer contributions should be sought to replace this much missed facility.
