Proposed Housing and Mixed-Use Site Allocations

The Barrowby Housing Needs Assessment (2024) identifies a requirement for 167 homes by 2041, of which 49 are already built. Allocating 455 at SKPR-327 creates a 270% oversupply, conflicting with national and local policies for proportionate growth. Delivering SKPR-327 alongside SKPR-272 would overwhelm limited infrastructure, with no supporting Infrastructure Delivery Plan. The site lies on Grade 1 farmland within sensitive landscape and heritage settings, threatening views of Harlaxton Manor. It also risks coalescence with Grantham, contrary to Barrowby’s Neighbourhood Plan. Given similarities with previously rejected site SKPR-101, the Parish Council recommends removing SKPR-327 or significantly reducing and re-phasing it.

Submitting on behalf of a resident:
She was having difficulties with submitting a comment regarding the proposed land allocation in Barrowby for housing and has asked me to forward on her comments.
The resident has lived in Barrowby all her life. She would like to object to the proposed land allocation on the basis that the increased housing would overwhelm the character of Barrowby, destroying the historical value of the village and put an unnecessary burden on the already poor infrastructure of the village. They feel that the proposed land is agricultural and would better serve the area, and the country, by remaining as such.
