SKPR-278 (GR3-H1): Spitalgate Heath - Garden Village (Mixed Use Allocation)
Representation ID: 2875
Received: 12/08/2025
Respondent: Natural England
Natural England welcome the provisions for green infrastructure provisions; recognition of the biodiversity opportunity mapping; and the protection of SSSI Woodnook. We welcome the changes that have been listed as they will provide additional opportunities for linking Green Infrastructure and improvement to the health and well-being of residents i.e:
• an active travel route from the site into Grantham and the railway station;
• reference to its location within the Witham Valley;
• a pedestrian link into Grantham;

SKPR-53 – Land at Mill Drove
Representation ID: 2893
Received: 13/08/2025
Respondent: Natural England
Natural England notes that reference to Green Infrastructure (GI) has been removed but the proposal would need to take account of Policy EN3 which seeks to protect and enhance GI across the district. Whilst we understand that Policy EN3 would apply, we recommend that a requirement for GI to be integrated throughout the site which is both accessible for future residents and of benefit to nature recovery.
We note the site is within 4.7km from Baston Fen SAC and evidence should be provided in order to determine that there would be no Likely Significant Effects on this designation.

Natural England notes that this site would be contiguous with site SKPR53, we therefore suggest that there would be potential to provide strategic Green Infrastructure across the two sites which would be of benefit for both nature and local residents.
