Proposed Housing and Mixed-Use Site Allocations
SKPR-65 (GR3-H4): Prince William of Gloucester Barracks (Mixed Use Allocation)
Representation ID: 3049
Received: 19/08/2025
Respondent: The Woodland Trust
The reduced scale of 3000 homes and the wording in g) seeking the retention of as much existing woodland as possible including recently planted areas, as well as the provision of new areas of woodland, is welcome.
We would like to see a canopy cover target for the site as a whole, and recommendations on the use of native tree species from biosecure UK sources.
We reserve the right to object to future planning applications should the impact on woodland be unacceptable.

SKPR-62 – The Grantham Church High School Playing Fields, Queensway
Representation ID: 3050
Received: 19/08/2025
Respondent: The Woodland Trust
The policy includes meeting Green Infrastructure requirements, however there is no specific wording on trees or tree planting. This area of Grantham has the highest need for trees, based on the UK Tree Equity Score (https://uk.treeequityscore.org/map#16.75/52.921503/-0.613524), with current tree cover of 6-7%, half the national average of 13%, and a third of the national tree cover target of 18-20%. We therefore strongly urge setting a specific target and requirement for increased tree cover within the GI requirements for the site.

SKPR-281 (STM1-H1): Stamford North
Representation ID: 3051
Received: 19/08/2025
Respondent: The Woodland Trust
This area has some of the highest priority for new tree cover in Stamford, with existing adjacent residential areas, notably the Cambridge Road estate, having canopy cover as low as 5%. https://uk.treeequityscore.org/map#14.81/52.66223/-0.48202
We therefore recommend setting a tree canopy cover target for this site as part of the master plan and development brief.
