There is insufficient detail in the document to allow informed comment on the propsals.
the proposed amount of housing would increase the size of the village by about 45%
There is no details on the 283 houses and what type and size these houses will be.
There is mention of widening of Greatford Road but as a resident who's house was built in 1783 and sits just 95cm from the kerb side it is difficult to know how this will be achieved.
The infrastucture including roads, GP's, schools, footpaths, cycleways are totally lacking to support this proposal

A15 is gridlocked already at peak times. Junction with Greatford Rd onto A15 is a death trap. Kings street is a race track. More housing and people will add to this already over populated area not to mention more hazardous roads. Doctors surgeries in Bourne and the Deepings already overloaded. I was just wondering if anyone from the council has visited Baston during rush hours for work and school and seen the horrendous traffic?

There are multiple accidents at the crossroads due to the heavy traffic to and from Bourne making it a nightmare to get in and out of Main St and Greatford Road. With 283 new house, this matter is going to get 10x worse, with more accidents and traffic. Whas already a very dangerous crossroad is potentially going to become even more dangerous. There are lots of children and pets in this village and by allowing this decision to go ahead, you're putting their lives at risk.

What is also disappointing, is the lack of consideration for the village itself. These homes are not being built by a high end developer, they're 100% going to reduce the value of this village and cause people to move outside the district. Just down the road in Langtoft, a new development was built but to a high standard so it's in keeping with the village itself. Also, not adding 566 more vehicles to an already problematic village for traffic.

The proposal will increase the size of the Village by 25% and cause traffic blockages and accidents on the A15. There has been numerous accident at Baston cross-roads, which this proposed increase will only exacerbate. The proposal does not consider the proposed quarry works (20-25 years duration) who's site entrance is intended to be onto the A15 about 400m North of Baston cross-roads. Any increase in the number of vehicles joining the A15 at Baston crossroads, or further North at the accident black spot by Waterside Garden Centre, will present a greater risk and hazard to road users.

While I realise that new houses are needed, and I have no objections to new housing, I strongly believe they need to be built in appropriate places.

- There is insufficient infrastructure to support a 40% increase in the size of the village.
-The A15 is already too busy (and too many accidents). Also having access onto greatford rd to cross the junction into the main village for another 283+ home vehicles is dangerous
-There are no plans to include any traffic lights on the junction of the Baston crossroads
-Baston is not connected by footpaths to anywhere else. Anyone wanting to leave the village needs to travel by car. Public transport as it's limited
-There is no employment in the area to accommodate the large amount of new working aged people moving in
-The school listed as the nearest is Kirkston house which is a PRIVATE school. Baston c of e school is full

There are no plans for extra doctors, dentists, schools which are already under pressure.

Added together with all the extra housing planned for langtoft, thurlby, the deepings & bourne - where are these extra people expected to go for healthcare & education.

I am writing as a resident of Baston to express my concerns regarding the proposed new housing development in our area.

While I understand the need for new housing, I strongly believe that the scale of this development is disproportionate to the size of our village and risks significantly altering it's character and infrastructure capacity.

1. Traffic and Road Safety: The A15, which already struggles with congestion during peak hours, would likely face even greater pressure as a result of increased vehicle use from new residents. This could pose safety risks and lead to longer travel times for current and future residents.

2. Strain on Local Services: Local facilities, including GP surgeries, dental practices, and schools, are already operating near or at capacity. An influx of new residents would stretch these services further, potentially leading to reduced access and quality of care.

3. Village Overdevelopment: The scale of the development would significantly increase the population, impacting the rural character and community feel of Baston.

I urge the council to reconsider or significantly scale down the proposed development, taking into account the capacity of existing infrastructure and the long-term impact on residents’ quality of life.

I would like to register my very strong objection to the proposed development of 283 houses being built on land at Baston. My first objection is that, as there has been very little information given out at the moment I am unable to form a constructive view. My other worries are:-

1. Access and volume of traffic onto A15 2. Access onto King Street (a notoriously dangerous and narrow road) many a car has finished in the dykes on an icy winters morning.

3. School placements - There is at present only one public school in Baston village. Kirkstone House being a private school. The majority of the children come from outside the village, creating more traffic chaos at certain times of the day.

4. GP Practices - it is hard enough getting a Dr’s appointment now without the possible increase of patients. Especially with the number of areas being developed in the whole area.

Just a few of my worries. There is clearly not the infrastructure in place to cope with the proposed 40% increase in housing in Baston village.

If we were to have 283 houses built evenly over the next 18 years with good infrastructure then this would be reasonable growth for the Village of Baston. In practice if the SKDC Plan does go ahead and include 283 we know that a builder will apply and they will all be built in the next five years.
The parish of Baston currently has some 720 properties so 283 would represent almost a 40% increase. This increase would be an unsustainable form of growth and significantly erode the rural character of the surrounding area with the Village losing its focus.
Although the A15 is classed as a Trunk A Road and so capable of handling extra traffic to and from Bourne and Market Deeping it is a dangerous road to access particularly at peak times. So any significant development on the west side of the A15 needs to be accessed by a roundabout.
There are already concerns about Doctors, Drainage, Schools and availability of Shops and Leisure Venues in the whole of the South of Lincolnshire so these concerns need to be addressed before large scale housing projects are agreed.
The land chosen is currently good quality agricultural land which is needed to help feed the nation and this will be even more important in future years.
I appreciate that England and SKDC needs to build more houses and that Baston can accommodate a small amount of growth but I totally object to the number that you propose to include at this stage.

Baston has experienced numerous developments in recent years. There is inadequate infrastructure to support further development. The primary school has insufficient capacity . The local health system is already overwhelmed, with one local surgery stating it cannot support such growth. The development would put excessive strain on sewage and drainage systems. The impact on the already busy A15 and junction would be significant, the congestion frequently experienced in the village would increase, it is not clear how this would be addressed. Entry/exit to a development via Greatford Road is ill considered and would create considerable traffic risks and congestion.

Proportionality is the key and this development is wholly disproportionate. For example, existing infrastructure is under severe pressure - local primary school, flood risk, health care facilities and the safety of all road users including pedestrians. The impact on proposed widening and pathway plans will negatively impact upon wildlife there for example grass snakes, kingfisher, vole, frogs, eels etc.
Some housing which is proportionate to the village current size is perhaps reasonable but circa 300 is wholly unacceptable for reasons stated.

The increased traffic that these houses and those elsewhere will create for the A15 is unacceptable without significant improvement in highway infrastructure. Residents want to see this happening before development takes place as the roads are already congested and dangerous. The doctors are under pressure and the local Leisure Centre has been closed. Building this number of houses to the west of the A15 is on the opposite side to the school, shop, pub and church so improved pedestrian crossing are absolutely vital. It would also be good to see improvement in active travel routes to towns elsewhere.

The proposed scale of development is disproportionate to Baston’s size and infrastructure capacity. It risks undermining the village’s character, overburdening local services, and compromising safety and environmental sustainability.

Key Objections:
Settlement Hierarchy- Baston classified as ‘Larger Village' suitable only for small to medium sized allocation. This was in our opinion met by the originally proposed Local Plan

Infrastructure Capacity and Road Safety- High traffic volume, serious traffic congestion at certain time of the day and speeding violations on A15, Greatford Road, and Main Street

Pedestrian Access and Public Transport- No safe walkways or reliable public transport links

Local Facilities and Services- Lack of GP surgery provision in the area with already long delays for appointments and consultations, supermarket, and recreational facilities

Education Capacity- Baston CE Primary School is now over capacity with local residents unable to get a place for their children within the local school.

While I support the need for modest housing growth, the scale of this proposal is excessive and incompatible with the village’s infrastructure, character, and capacity. Baston is a small rural community with limited services, and this development would represent a population increase of around 50%, which is simply not sustainable.

Ref 2011 Consensus there are 555 registered households within the Baston parish. An increase of 283 houses (>50% of the total village) is disproportionate in scale to the village’s classification and infrastructure, risking road safety, school and healthcare overload, flood risk, and environmental harm. Population increase by 50%, undermining Baston’s rural character. Strongly urge a reconsideration of the modification and return to the original 86 houses.

Key Concerns:
-Traffic and Road Safety: The proposed access points are unsuitable and pose safety risks, especially at the A15 junction which has a history of
accidents.
-School Capacity: Baston CE Primary School is already over capacity.
-Healthcare Access: This development would worsen access without any new healthcare infrastructure.
-Flood Risk: Development here would require significant mitigation, which has not been adequately addressed.
-Environmental Impact: The plan contradicts sustainability goals. It increases car dependency and threatens greenfield land, hedgerows, and local

skpr 109 and 110. I am not opposed to smaller affordable housing, but not to the ridiculous volume planned. You are increasing the village by 30%. There is not the infrastructure for any extra homes. The school is oversubscribed and the other is irrelevant as private. The A15 is the most dangerous junction locally. Already to cross my passenger will get out to press the pedestrian crossing to slow down traffic. Combine this with all the other planned developments locally with increased traffic. Buses only run until 8pm. Both local doctors are oversubscribed, 8 weeks waiting times for appointments.

My family and I strongly object to the new development plans for Baston. The A15 road and The junctions are too busy and dangerous already. The number of cars from the new development would only increase risk to road safety.
Doctors surgeries and Dental practices are also already overwhelmed- not enough community support in these areas as it is!
Farm land and protecting nature is also crucial. We need our farms as they provide food!
This is not a safe site for a new estate. Please reconsider for the safety and wellbeing of our local area.

skpr319 I understand the need for housing, but not to this scale. You are increasing the village by 38%. There is not even the infrastructure for the current residents. The school is oversubscribed and the other is irrelevant as private. The A15 is beyond dangerous, I no longer attempt the junction between 7.30 and 9.00 and 4.00 and 5.30pm, despite being a confident driver. With extra developments planned this will only get worse. Doctors are oversubscribed, with long waiting times for appointments. Resolve these issues then consider a smaller development with social/affordable housing badly needed.

I understand that baston village needs to grow to allow the younger generations to have the chance to continue living in the village and community that they were raised in as there is very few opportunities to purchase affordable houses within the village but such a vast development is unsustainable. The suggestion of building so many houses in such a small village is wrong on so many levels, Baston is a small community and it would change the whole dynamics of the community.

Main objection is the traffic dangers and lack of infrastructure in place, also issues of school places not being available.

A15 volume of traffic is high causing many issues from Greatford Road onto King Street and leaving the village from Main Street. If full proposed plans were to go ahead the additional number of cars in village would increase substantially making these issues become even more problematic. There is also possibility of additional gravel pits in the village - even more traffic!!!

Local facilities (doctors/dentists/hospitals) already stretched beyond belief, how can even larger numbers of the community receive reasonable services?
