I object to this due to the increased pressure this would put on the village and surrounding resources. The drains already overflow and flood. Traffic through the village onto the main road is already really busy and there are already numerous accidents at both Kates bridge and the crossroads at the back of Manthorpe. More traffic would make this even worse.

I don’t believe the infrastructure in the village is suitable for more houses. We already have difficulties at peak times getting out of the village. There is already sewerage running down the roads and constant water leaks from the mains water.

A development as big as 50 houses will dramatically affect the nature and feel of Thurlby village.
The traffic generated by c100 extra cars will have a very negative affect on the nature of High Street and make it even more difficult and prolonged to turn onto the A15
Building on countryside will have a negative effect on drainage and wildlife in our village
The school is already full in reception. This will put even further pressure onto our community resources including our school

Awful decision for a village that has been already very over developed.
It already has large amounts of traffic coming through the village. And access onto the the very busy a15 is awful already. If there was to be any building in the village it should be on the east side of the a15. And people live in a village because it’s a quiet place to live. Not for it to be built up into a town.
100% against both development plans.

- Village infrastructure cannot accommodate a development of this size
- Thurlby School is already at capacity accommodating siblings
- drainage / Sewage systems cannot cope with current housing. Floods often occur in the village.
- the access point for this development is the high street which is already dangerous with parked cars.

The local community doesn’t have the resources to withstand extra housing. The A15 can not cope with the level of demand at peak times currently so adding to this will only make things worse. Thurlby cross roads will become massive log jam of traffic. The wider Bourne infrastructure will struggle to keep up demand, the doctors and the water/ waste water are struggling now, adding to this can not be good.

Village infrastructure like sewage, road system in the village, around the school and main road cannot manage this. Protecting the local wildlife being so close to protected areas like Dole Wood. Green spaces are disappearing.

understand the need for additional housing in South Kesteven but there needs to be care allocating where that additional housing is built, Sites should only be chosen where infrastructure exists to cope with the additional housing Given this I object to housing being built at the two Thurlby sites, SKPR 277 and SKPR 56. Thurlby suffers from poor drainage. (Drainage infrastructure has not been upgraded in line with the increase in housing ) and is prone to surface flooding. The village flooded in January 2024. Climate change will only make this worse Existing traffic issues will also worsen.

My objection is the number of properties being proposed in a village. More development will reduce the village feel and appeal which is what attracted us to Thurlby in the first place. The A15 is already busy enough and with a total of 136 new dwellings, including that proposed in SKPR-56, with at least one car each means even more traffic. The primary school is already full so more dwellings would restrict the available places. I’m also concerned with the impact on sewerage and flooding in the village as a result of this development.

Access is a major concern. The road is narrow, and it is already difficult driving along it, due to parked cars.
The sewage system in the village cannot cope with it's current level of usage.
The village school is full, as are many other local primary schools.
I feel building should be on brown sites, not agricultural land, which may be needed in the future for food production!!!

Objection by reason of inadequate access for motor vehicles and previous conclusions stating that it is unsuitable.
See document https://moderngov.southkesteven.gov.uk/documents/s9418/Thurlby.pdf.
This document clearly points out access issues and on-street parking which will make access limited. The on-street parking problem cannot be fixed easily since the properties concerned have inadequate provision for parking.
The referenced document also clearly states that the site is not suitable for allocation which must be considered.

The village struggles to cope with it’s current size and would not function properly with a new development. Problems with sewage, drainage, conditions of roads, volume of traffic trying to pull out on A15 and add to A15, School already full.

The area is subject to severe flooding, building would cause the flooding to become worse and divert the water towards the A15. Properties in the vicinity have severely flooded in the past causing extensive damage.
The village is already struggling with the amount of traffic the village roads are in a poor state of repair.
The school is too small to accommodate further pupils.

The access point into the village would mean more traffic trying to join the A15 from High Street. This is already a busy junction and not suitable for more traffic. The parking along the High Street already causes blockages so again further traffic would make this worse. The school is also over subscribed with people in the village not gaining a place so wouldn’t be any further room.

Development on agricultural land, even if it seems a small amount, reduces food production capacity and negatively impacts on food security by requiring more food to be imported. We need to look to build on brownfield sites and save our fields from unnecessary development.

Access to the site would be directly onto the A15,an EXTREMELY busy road, cause for concern with regard to road safety. The infrastructure of Thurlby village is already at breaking point: our pumping station cannot cope with the sewerage and surface water produced; ongoing leaks and regular flooding, raw sewage sometimes runs down the Street. Surface water runs down High Street in heavy rain, flooding the A15.
Our school is full, local doctors and dentists are at capacity. We are aware of local opposition to the development and are not aware of an identified housing need.

As a resident of Thurlby I am concerned about the growing size of the village, which will then lose its farming village community spirit to become a suburb of ever growing Bourne. I am also concerned about the infrastructure of the increased buildings. We already regularly have water pressure problems. The roads in the village are small - they cannot cope with the added pressure of 100+ more cars. In light of the huge building programme that has happened in Bourne , we do not need still more.

I assume access will be from High Street which is unsuitable due to limited off-road parking for existing residents who park on High Street making visibility and manoeuvring difficult. The infrastructure of the village is such that it cannot sustain a large development as this and would change the character forever should it go ahead. The continuous loss of important farm land would
mean we would have to import more food and increase our carbon footprint at a time when we are striving to reduce it.

This development has not been designed with any consideration to the High St traffic.
You have allowed only a single access off the High St
Where as creating a much larger project encompassing a new entrance from the A15 with a new roundabout would enable you to have access to both sites and joining them together would be more sense as major infrastructure is required to allow either project to go forward. As major road widening and drains will require to upgraded and connected to Bourne pumping station.

The access to the A15 is currently gridlocked at busy periods of the day so putting another joining road is ridiculous. Traffic could not access the A15 via Northorpe or Thurlby high streets as this is already gridlocked. This is ill thought out and is just for profit not providing any amenities to the villages the school is currently full the Drs and dentist are not taking on patients there is no infrastructure including sewage and water drainage infrastructure

The reason I’m objecting to these plans is as follows.
1. The main road infrastructure is stretched already and I’ve not seen any plans to make the infrastructure better, eg A15
2. The health centres are already stretched,
3. Local schools are already stretch and I’ve seen no plans to build another secondary school.

I object to 50 houses at Elm Farm Yard. The village junction to the A15 is already dangerous. Given that this development may bring up to 100 more cars into the village, it will mean more accidents, more queues as people try to get onto the A15 and therefore more traffic pushed onto Obthorpe lane (which is effective single track and completely unsuitable for additional traffic). Additionally, more countryside will be destroyed (the Elsea Park expansion is evidence of this). The primary school would also not be able to cope, meaning more parents travelling in cars to different schools.
