The development of the site will diminish the landscape and topography. It has previously been shown to effect the 60m contour and is not feasible without.
Highway connections adjacent to the development to the south, are not possible due to the existing infrastructure, connections are not possible to wider town without significant impact on existing community.
This site is within a Green Infrastructure Area. Proposals should not be allowed whilst industrial and brown field sites can be utilised first.

Respondent: Mrs Amanda Burton

Representation Summary:

I object to this proposed development for the following reasons :
1. Development outside of the boundary of Gonerby hill foot, encroaching onto Great Gonerby .
2. Loss of green space used by many locals in Gonerby hill foot and great Gonerby for recreational purposes.
3. Loss of green space will affect the existing wildlife and wild flowers
4. Belton Lane is not fit to take this increased volume of traffic, and neither is the hump backed bridge on Belton Lane.
5. Grantham Hospital is not suitable for increased housing and the numbers of people this development would bring

Please see my full comments outlining my objection to development of land at SKPR-57 (628 houses), for reasons including:
- Unsuitability of road network and inadequate access
- Proximity to, and visibility from, Belton House NT estate
- Loss of access to green space for local people - impacting their mental and physical health
- Destruction of biodiversity including Section 41 wildlife species and habitats
- Proximity to Air Quality Management area

Respondent: Mrs Rachel Bamford

Representation Summary:

The junction Belton Lane/Newark Hill is not big enough to cope with the traffic. I am often queued well down Belton Lane to get out at the T junction. It is not safe with all the traffic outside the nursery. Great Gonerby needs less traffic going through it not more. The fields flood into the road when it rains which causes people to stop and go around the puddles, causing traffic after the railway bridge, more houses, more traffic!

The area is not suitable for the additional homes with access issues and not enough infrastructure to support the additional housing. It also removes valuable green space from the community.

Regulation 18 Draft Local Plan

Representation ID: 781

Received: 21/04/2024

Respondent: Mr Emlyn Wright

Representation Summary:

I object to the proposed developments in the fields at Gonerby hill foot because it will affect the local wildlife, deprive people of natural green spaces and add more housing to a town that doesn’t have an infrastructure to support the people that already live here. Also, after heavy rains belton lane has flooded for months showing that it isn’t suitable for packed in houses that just get thrown together.

Regulation 18 Draft Local Plan

Representation ID: 797

Received: 21/04/2024

Respondent: Mr Paul Nash

Representation Summary:

Belton Lane and Manthorpe Road cannot support the increased traffic this development would create. The Belton Lane railway bridge has a 7.5 ton weight limit, the junction with Newark Road is very restricted and access here and off the Manthorpe Road end backs up regularly. Traffic into Grantham on the Manthorpe Road already backs up regularly, not just in rush-hour. Belton Lane floods regularly off the proposed development site when it rains. It will only increase the run-off. There is nowhere for the drainage and sewage to go when the land is waterlogged creating a traffic and health hazard.

Representation Summary:

The Gonerby Hill Foot Community Group submitted documentation to SKDC. I am happy for this submission to represent my objection. The impact this development will have on the environment, wildlife, character of the town, traffic and residents in the area, as well as the already stretched resources (schools and medical facilities). If we have to give up valuable green space, developers and the council need to be held accountable for real sustainable development: concrete effort to use brown sites first; any devopment to make provision of much needed infrastructure and adequate facilities to support healthy, quality neighbourhood living.

Loss of privacy and light. Roads are not suitable for the amount of traffic this will create. Will have a damaging effect on the environment.

Representation Summary:

The area cannot support the amount of dwellings due to the infer structure ie narrow roads, power supply, sewage, schools and the congestion already on North Parade & Manthorpe road. Also if the population grows what is going to happen about hospitals & other medical services as they struggle now. Plus the Gonerby Hill Foot Community Group have submitted documentation to SKDC. I am happy for this submission to represent my objection.

Gonerby Hill Foot, Great Gonerby and Manthorpe Village will not have there own identity anymore they will be GRANTHAM the “small” little town with a hospital that gets smaller and smaller. The Inferstructure cannot cope now with all the traffic, lack of medical needs etc etc.,…. We had when I was young many decades ago more facilities with far less houses and people. I know times change and we need more houses but in the right places.

In addaition, I am particularly concerned:
At the increased damage to our already poorly maintained road network.
The downgrading of local NHS Services, now that Grantham no longer has an A & E Department.
The UK also needs to retain this valuable farming land, to maintain our food security for the future.

Representation Summary:

I would like to strongly object.
The last 2 sites mentioned (SKPR-65 and SKPR-278), whilst not maybe ideal ( Size wise ) at least will have new infrastructure on the way
The Southern relief road looks a great place for a National Distribution Hub with all the Benefits of employment.
Maybe we could even look at a new Medical facility up there. Maternity, Paediatric care, care homes , trauma unit & a 24 hours A&E.
We would all welcome that !
SKPR 57 YEILDS A CROP . & offers the community so much !!
SKPR 57 In conjunction with S23/1699 are likely to have a detrimental effect on BELTON HOUSE
SKPR 57 has many challengers regarding access
SKPR 57 being developed will have a detrimental effect on our local community & the wider community

So with all this in mind, I move that SKPR57 is not brought forward for development & That I STRONGLY OBJECT

I object to this development on the grounds that the road infrastructure leading into centre of town is already gridlocked in the mornings. With only 3 main roads into town more traffic is not needed. You need to address the whole of the town’s infrastructure schools etc before any development of this size goes ahead. And building on these green spaces will not help with future flood risks.

Strongly object! This will have such an impact on my family and the community. We use these fields to walk our dog and gets us out enjoying green beautiful space. The schools are already at full capacity and not to mention the pressure this will have on the GPS and UTC? The roads will not cope with yet more traffic especially if the A1 is diverted and causes major traffic jams towards town. Is wildlife even considered? I do hope this will not be approved!!
