One of the most used open spaces used for dog walkers and to enjoy fresh air within Deepings. Historically used by local people and for Deepings Agricultural Show. Proposal would cause problems regarding infrastructure, and no longer be a quiet spot for exercise. Wrong size and location for new houses. Other sites for large development without hindering the local population – adjacent to Harrier Way (Linden Homes development). Issues surrounding land of GO’s, shops and school places need to be considered before new development approved. The Deepings are at capacity and cannot accept expansion unless these issues are addressed.

I would like my objection noted to the proposed changes to Site SKPR-144. It is a very much used open area for the health and well-being of many local residents and would be a great loss if this was taken away. I am also objecting because it is obvious that the current infrastructure and services available to Market Deeping are already suffering and any additional requirements will only compound the level of inadequacy.

I am objecting to the proposed plan of more housing as Deeping has become all house and no facilities. Even getting a simple doctor’s appointment is near possible. The road lay out, volume of traffic will cause congestion and fumes and noise. Mill Field is a lovely relaxing green space for people to enjoy weather with their dogs, walking round enjoying nature around them. Our dog loves the open green space to run and have a great time. It’s great for one’s wellbeing. Please don’t take away this wonderful green space the benefits are to great to lose.

This space has served as a vital open area for the local community and their families for countless years. In 2017, SKDC's Open Local Plan pledged to safeguard all existing open spaces, emphasizing the importance of preserving informal natural areas. It is imperative that this commitment is honored, ensuring that this invaluable open space remains untouched. The significance of nature and open spaces cannot be overstated, as they play a pivotal role in promoting both physical and mental well-being. Beyond its health benefits, Mill Field holds a profound significance for numerous local residents, boasting a distinct and irreplaceable character. Encircled by majestic trees and hedgerows, it stands as the final vestige of rural tranquility in Market Deeping. Its rich history is woven into the fabric of the community, having served as the backdrop for agricultural shows, sporting events, and galas since 1882. It is my firm belief that Mill Field must be safeguarded and diligently preserved for the enjoyment of our children and the prosperity of future generations. I ask you to consider the enduring value of Mill Field to the community. Any development on this site would not only undermine the well-being of residents but also erase a cherished piece of our town's heritage.

Once again the forgotten town of Market Deeping that sits at the lowest point of Lincolnshire is being potentially forced into more housing development planning and the destruction of more of its green space. As you will be aware more and more houses are being built here whilst facilities are being taken away and no investment being made to that end. Rather than build more houses why can’t you think about re-investing in the community by supporting the re-development of the now shut leisure centre or invest in a 4G sports complex for the 50 plus football teams in the immediate vicinity to name but one major issue you are creating in this small town that has burst at the seams ! Of course, I understand the need for more housing, but a tick box exercise that is not supported by facilities will create major social issues which are just beginning to become apparent with tight additional housing that has been built in recent times. Market Deeping sadly has become the very poor relation to our close neighbours of Stamford, Spalding and Bourne. That needs addressing in relation to facilities, NOT housing !

This green space is vitally important to those residents living locally. We exercise, walk our dogs, socialise, view wildlife, play with our children and fruit pick there on the fields. We do not need a building site, noise pollution, destruction of wildlife settings, road pollution or delays in this area. Please consider all the residents views and petition's and arrange your plans elsewhere.

I object to Site SKPR-144...Mill Field, Market Deeping.
My reasons are:
Reduction in peoples areas to move freely without worry of traffic movements and its resulting exhaust pollution.
Reduction in areas for walking dogs without worrying about traffic movements.
Reduction in areas for people to exercise for health benefit without fear of disruption.
Reduction in actual green space for the joy of being able to walk amongst it.
Reduction in actual green space for nature and the environment.
We need to preserve green spaces for present and future generations.

I object to the Site SKPR-144 Millfield Market Deeping EVER being developed and should be protected as a Local Green Space for future generations.
I have used these fields for walking my dogs daily, since I moved here 13 years ago, I met a lot of other local people walking the fields either with their dogs or just exercising who made me feel welcome and many whom are still my friends years later. I also have many happy memories of taking my grandson to these fields to either play with or go blackberry picking. These fields are (I believe) the last remaining natural fields in Market Deeping and DESERVE to be designated as a Local Green Space.

This field is the only one in the town where we can safely walk with our dogs. People with dogs walk there from all over the town. Dogs feel safe. Dog owners can let their dogs run around the field, as there is no playground nearby and it is safe. If this field is built on, then it is necessary to give dog owners another alternative where dogs can walk.

I object to the inclusion of site ref SKPR-144 in Market Deeping. This is one of the few areas of open land remaining in the Deepings area and has many benefits to the community both from a nature and wildlife perspective and for health and wellbeing by enabling people to walk safely in a natural green area. The site is adjacent to a designated green lane (Millfield Road) and any development on this land would impact the nature of that road. We need to have some land left in the Deepings that is not built on!

One of the few well used and loved natural areas remaining many people in the local area for exercise.
Identified as a designated green land in the Deepings Neighbourhood Plan – requiring any development maintains the essentially rural nature of the lane.
Ensure development does not increase traffic so walking along the lane becomes dangerous/ less pleasant.
Ensure remaining hedgerows are protected and not further degraded so that the essential character of the lane is maintained and that biodiversity is not damaged – open space kept in a natural state (park/garden) or remains agrarian land. Millfield Road should remain as so.
The inclusion of the site seems to disregard of local wishes as expressed in previous consultations and Neighbourhood Plan.

I would like to register my objections to above site SKPR-144 for the following reasons, Towns infrastructure will not cope with this type of large scale development. This is a area very popular with people seeking for quality time with nature, this would be a big minus for the people of Market Deeping, the development of it takes place will probably not be the last I urge people to think long and hard about the folly of this project.

I am writing to you to object to Site SKPR-144 Mill Field, Market Deeping.
This is due to the increase of traffic it will cause, the fact that there is currently only one doctors surgery in the whole of Deeping which is already extremely overwhelmed and there are no plans to introduce a new surgery, and the field is used every single day by dog walkers etc.

Objection to development of this site. It is a well used green space on the edge of small market town, which already has limited green spaces. The proposal of this site will change the entire nature of this part of the town, and reduce the amount of accessible green space, in direct contradiction of the stated aim of protecting and enhancing public spaces.

I wish to object to Site SKPR-144...Mill Field, Market Deeping. My main reasons are
• It will create significant noise and disruption during the period of development.
• Once developed, it will create extra levels of noise from vehicles and general activity (the bypass is already noisy with traffic).
• It will create dangerous extra levels of traffic in the immediate area of the access roads. This will come not just from residents but from delivery vehicles.
• It will add significant pressure to the village re: traffic, parking, doctors surgery.

I wish to object in the strongest possible terms against any development of Mill Field at Market Deeping. Any development would materially adversely affect the nature of the town. The infrastructure of the town, including roads, public services, schools and heath centre is already unfit for purpose and cannot cope with the population as it is. Any development of Mill field will exacerbate this problem. There is zero public interest or desire to see Mill Field, one of our very few remaking green spaces, to be developed in any way. Please leave it alone!

Site should be retained for community and recreational use for community to support wellbeing and mental health with no alternatives so implications would be significant. Provision of a nominal green space is inadequate. Policies require preference to brownfield sites and community support – which is not the case. DNP12 is a green lane and development would ruin it. Impacts to A15 and Millfield Road due to extra traffic - development would be reliant on cars going against Government’s objectives of reducing the need to travel. Additional traffic would jeopardise the safety and quiet enjoyment. Impacts on wildlife, character and appearance of the area. Noise disturbance impact from A15 and Stamford Road for residents of new houses. Flood risk issues.

Development on this site would be contrary to policies SP2, BNP12, SP4B, SP4a, EN5, and OS1. Millfield should be retained as a green space that future generations can continue to enjoy. It has been a recreational ground since 1882, please don’t destroy it. We need to invest in the environment to help maintain the mental, physical health and wellbeing of local residents for generations to come. Concreting over such as valuable natural resource would have a negative impact on the surrounding areas for years.

Development should not compromise the nature or character of the town. Development on the edge of Settlement should have substantial support from the local community. Development should be appropriate in size, scale and layout to the setting/area. Millfield Road is a Green Lane and a housing estate and extra traffic would ruin it. Development should avoid increasing flood risk elsewhere. SKDC's Open Space and Recreation Study 2023 states that the Deepings is deficient in natural and semi natural green space. Mill Field is not an official natural green space but as grassland which is cut only once per year ,it has served as such for many decades and thus satisfies SKDC's standard provision for that category- 2ha per 1000 population within 720 metres.

With reference to point d, "Sensitive landscaping shall be incorporated along the northern and western edges of the site". I would suggest that it is the eastern boundary, alongside Millfield Road, rather than the western boundary, where such landscaping should be incorporated in any development proposals.
Along the western boundary adjacent to the A15, there is already, outside of the site, a significant amount of mature trees and an embankment. The noise mitigation measure required by point c may further screen the site on this boundary and therefore I would suggest that further measures are unnecessary.

-Millfield Road not constructed to the standards required for increased traffic - specifically pedestrian and cyclist safety.
-Noise pollution to existing properties and to any proposed development would be significant.
-Public transport does not serve the area, enforcing vehicle dependence.
-No cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, enforcing vehicle dependence.
-Pollution caused by further vehicle use will negatively impact local residents health.
-Services and leisure offering in the area is inadequate to support further need.
-Reduction of natural flood plain close to water course.
-Destruction of open spaces used to the public benefit.
-Additional, unsustainable demand on local Policing, Fire and Ambulance.

The area west of Millfield is too valuable as a natural green space to be sacrificed for housing development. Millfield's habitat benefits to endangered wildlife and health and mental wellbeing effects on existing residents outweigh the need for more allocation of housing land when several existing approved sites remain undeveloped.
The infrastructure of medical services, schools, employment places and public services within the Deepings are broken and unable to cope with existing residents. Further expansion of housing will be unsustainable and put even more strain on these services causing harm to the local community.

As a Councillor representing Market Deeping, I know this site (SKPR-144) is much beloved by the Deepings population. It has historic value and is the last remaining publicly accessible site to the west of the town.
The site appears unsuitable for development because of:
- difficulty creating a suitable access down a 'green lane'
- potential flooding especially Surface Water Flood Risk.
- its proximity to nearby Designated Site(s) (SAC, SPA, SSSI)
- the overwhelming opposition to the site from residents
- loss of amenity
- loss of biodiversity
There are far more suitable sites available elsewhere in the District.
