Obthorpe lane cannot sustain any housing. Application for one house was refused so no way an estate. The road is single track and when accident on A15 traffic using road causes complete bedlam. Sewage and surface water drains already struggle when rain. Junction of Obthorpe and High street already an issue with traffic unsure which side of triangle to go. This cannot work.

I object because:
Obthorpe Road cannot support any extra traffic without becoming dangerous.
It is already very difficult to turn from High Street into the Bourne-Deeping Road at peak times, added traffic would make this more dangerous.
Drainage is already insufficient in the village and houses flood.
Sewage system is already overwhelmed and raw sewage is regularly coming up, presenting a health hazard.
Affect in wildlife with proximity to Dole Wood.

-The village school cannot take or extend for any more children it is at full capacity with classes already over numbers. Building these houses will mean children within area will not get a school place.
- There is no childcare in the village putting more pressure on already over subscribed settings.
- The traffic increase for the village will be detrimental and dangerous. The roads are narrow enough.
- We need the green spaces and farmland to remain a village feel.

A development of nearly 90 houses will radically alter the nature and feel of Thurlby.
It will massively increase traffic along high street and Obthorpe Lane. It is already very difficult to turn onto the A15 at times from the village and this will increase the wait time to do so.

The school does not have capacity to cope with more families - reception this year is already over subscribed.


It will have a detrimental effect on nature building on countryside near Obthorpe Lane and may disturb wildlife near Dole Woods

This is in a totally unsuitable area of the village. The ground is lower than the existing sewage system that is at full capacity so cannot take any more development without upgrade of system from the pumping station Thurlby to Bourne. The Obthorpe Lane is a single carriageway country road not suitable for traffic entering a new development of 90 houses. This is also backland development and does not comply with the Thurlby neighbourhood plan which was adopted in 2017.

Will create too much extra traffic on the A15 and not enough support services eg schools, drs, dentists. The land was deemed not suitable in 2009 why is it now suitable? It grows the village at an alarming rate. Village people do not want this. The drains and roads can’t cope already. This will only make it worse.

Objections raised were:
1.Construction traffic during build
2.No local school places available
3.Traffic increase by a very large percentage along a single carriage road to the south. The road to the north has been recently resurfaced, but is also narrow when large site vehicles are considered.
4.Also, albeit temporary movement of removal vehicles will be using the road during and after completion of the site.
5.Foul waste, i.e. sewage with 90+ houses will cause further issues as pipes are not in good condition and there is already evidence of leakage along High Street and Church Lane before it reaches the outdated sewage pumping station. Obthorpe Lane also has a one-way valve at the end of the road
6.High Street already has traffic from the quarries west of Thurlby which will only be exacerbated by the additional 90+ homes if this goes ahead.
I was surprised that Allison Homes were already clear in their minds that this is a done deal.

Thurlby was a small village, a hamlet even, and to designate it as a large village is incorrect: the infrastructure is still that of a small village.

This site is unsuitable due to highway constraints: Obthorpe Lane is a narrow, single-track lane already at capacity, requiring undeliverable widening. The allocation also sits within a Green Infrastructure Area, threatening landscape character. The village primary school is full, with no mitigation for additional pupils. Sewerage and surface water systems are already overloaded, with flooding reported locally. Without secured access, drainage, and education capacity, development here would result in unsafe conditions, unsustainable car dependency, and increased flood risk — contrary to the NPPF and Local Plan policies.

The road is already dangerous as two cars cannot safely pass and cannot take increased volume. Also very difficult to turn from the High Street on to A15 at peak timings due to volume of traffic on A15. Further traffic will only make all of this far worse. Raw sewage already surfaces during heavy rainfall meaning system already over whelmed which is already a health risk. The roads and area immediate areas regularly flood, no capacity for more children at village school. Proximity to Dole Wood which is SSSI and negative impact on wildlife.

I wish to object to this planning application on several grounds. The proposed development threatens valuable wildlife habitats that support protected species and contribute to local biodiversity. Loss of these green spaces would have a lasting environmental impact. In addition, the existing infrastructure is already under considerable strain, with limited capacity in schools, healthcare, and public utilities. Local roads are narrow and congested, and increased traffic from the development will worsen safety risks, air pollution, and delays. Without substantial investment in sustainable transport and community services, this proposal is unsuitable and would harm both residents and the natural environment.

Access to the villages from the A15 is currently via the crossroads with High Street or Northorpe or up Obthorpe lane via Wilsthorpe Lane. At peak times, when trying to join the A15 from the village, these junctions often result in considerable waiting times, while seeking to turn right especially. Adding a further 86 & 50 dwellings to the village will further exacerbate this problem, so as part of any development plan I would expect/request consideration be given to improving the flow of traffic at each of these junctions.

Current sewerage issues at the moment in the village
Thurlby Primary School is not big enough
Local dentists & doctors cannot copy now without adding to the problem
Obthopre Lane, a single track road, is not wide enough for an additional 200+ cars!
When collisions occur on the A15, the Police shut it and divert traffic through the village, HGV's and all. Our roads are not suitable for this purpose!
As a parishoner, I do not want it to grow on a massive scale as suggested by the plans
Allison Home or any other developer is not welcome in Thurlby!

Thurlby does not have the necessary: Drainage/Sewerage system; Road Infrastructure and Schooling for any further development.

Access to the site is via Obthorpe Lane- for the most part a single track road in very poor repair.
Joining the A15 from the village is already very difficult.
Flooding occurs regularly and the Sewerage System is archaic.
The local primary school is already at capacity.

There is no room for more people. The school is full, the A15 has too much traffic already and too much traffic through the village. No doubt some social housing involved too when the rest of us are paying and working! People choose to live in villages because they are small and they should be kept small. Are there enough local jobs or do these new people not need jobs? The village suffers from terrible flooding already (including my house) because the drainage system can’t cope when it rains but the council doesn’t want to know!!

1. Pg 675 of SKDC Local Plan Review notes that Obthorpe Lane should be widened 'to point of access'. It would need to be widened for the full length plus Wilsthorpe Lane. Traffic volumes will be high, heading south to access the A15 at Wilsthorpe Lane. Without full widening the lane could not cope.
2. Pg137 of South Kesteven Infrastructure Delivery Plan June 2025 notes that the Anglian Water assessment is that there is zero headroom in the Thurlby WRC for further households.
Point 2 alone would imply that SKDC should not have adopted SKPR-56 as a preferred site.

I have serious concerns about the management of drainage. Living in Thurlby I am very aware that the current drainage system in inadequate in heavy rain. Although I appreciate the need for more affordable housing, the current drainage infrastructure would need much improvement before it can support more homes.

Very concerned that the sewage pumping station can’t cope already with the housing existing. Also the road junction at the A15 struggles now with the existing traffic and with what would amount to at least the pressure of 200 more vehicles that needs to be considered too.
